Take out your phone’s calculator. This will take three minutes, and the number at the end might surprise you.
The Calculation
Start with three numbers from your own salon.
Number 1: How many appointments does your salon take per week? Write it down.
Number 2: What is your average ticket size — what the average client pays per visit?
Number 3: How many appointments per week are no-shows or last-minute cancellations? A rough estimate is fine.
Now do this math for no-show loss: Number 3 × Number 2 × 4 weeks.
Let us use a real example. 20 bookings per week. ₹700 average ticket. 3 no-shows per week.
That is 3 × ₹700 × 4 = ₹8,400 per month in no-show loss.
Now the second calculation. How many slots per week sit empty — not because of no-shows, but because nobody booked them at all? Morning slots, weekday afternoons, the Tuesday 2pm that always seems to stay open.
Let us say 5 empty slots per week.
5 × ₹700 × 4 = ₹14,000 per month in unfilled capacity.
Add them together: ₹8,400 + ₹14,000 = ₹22,400 per month.
Every month. Without you realising it.
This is a typical number for a mid-sized Indian salon. Most owners are surprised when they actually calculate it.Yeh ek average salon ka hisaab hai. Kaafi log is number se hairan ho jaate hain.
Where the Money Goes — and Why
No-shows happen because there is no cost to missing an appointment. The client intended to come. Something came up. There was no deposit to lose, so they cancelled without much thought.
Empty weekday slotshappen because new clients cannot find you. If your salon is not appearing when someone searches “salon near me” on a Tuesday afternoon, they find your competitor. Your competitor gets that booking. Your slot stays empty.
Unanswered DMs are the hidden loss most people do not count. A client found your Instagram at 11pm. Sent a message. Got no reply. Booked somewhere else by morning. That slot was never in your calendar — but it should have been.
What Changes These Numbers
A deposit at booking fixes no-shows. When clients pay ₹150 to ₹300 to hold their slot, no-shows drop by 70-80%. The ₹8,400 monthly loss becomes roughly ₹1,680. You protected ₹6,720 per month by adding one step to your booking process.
A real website on Google fixes empty weekday slots. When someone searches “salon near me” on Tuesday afternoon, your salon appears. They read your reviews. They book. The Tuesday slot fills.
Instagram automation fixes the DM loss. Every inquiry gets a reply in under 60 seconds with your prices and a booking link. The 11pm message becomes a morning booking with a deposit already paid.
The Monthly Difference
Running a 20-booking-per-week salon without these three things: ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month leaking out.
Running the same salon with deposit booking, Google visibility, and Instagram automation: most of that is recovered or protected.
Purpilot Essential starts at ₹999/month. Growth at ₹1,999/month.
The math is not complicated. The question is just when you are ready to stop the leak.
