Navratri starts October 11 this year. If your salon hasn't started taking festive bookings yet, you are six weeks away from the rush — and already behind the salons that have.
Every year, the pattern is the same. Salons that begin promoting festive packages in late August and early September fill their slots steadily, collect deposits, and walk into October with a full, confirmed calendar. Salons that start promoting in late September get flooded with last-minute inquiries, no-shows, and double-bookings — and finish Navratri exhausted with 30 percent of their peak-season revenue missing.
Why festive slots fill up faster than you expect
Navratri, Karwa Chauth, and the full October wedding season fall within three weeks of each other. For a salon in any North or West Indian city, this is your single highest-demand window of the year.
Clients who want bridal hair, mehendi prep, blowouts, or skin treatments for these occasions are not booking one week in advance. They are booking four to six weeks in advance — because they know prime slots go fast.
If your salon is not visible as a festive option right now — in late August and early September — you are invisible during the exact window when clients are making their festive plans.
The no-show problem during festive rush — and why it hurts most at peak
No-shows spike during festive season. Clients book early when they're excited, then something changes — another wedding, a family plan, a last-minute Oyo trip with family. They don't cancel. They just don't show up.
Indian salons lose about 30 percent of peak-season bookings to no-shows. In a regular month, that might cost you ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 a day in missed chair revenue. During Navratri week, when your chair is worth ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 per slot and you're fully booked back to back — each no-show can cost you ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 in a single hour.
The fix for this is the advance deposit. Festive slot pe paisa pehle, toh client pakka aati hai.
How to set up early-bird festive packages
An early-bird festive package is simply a named service bundle with a specific price, available only for Navratri, Karwa Chauth, or the wedding season window. You can offer a bridal prep package, a festive hair package, a glow facial combo — whatever your salon does best.
Price it clearly. The deposit is 30% of the service price, ₹200 minimum. Promote it on WhatsApp and Instagram starting now, in late August.
Clients who see a specific "Navratri Bridal Package — Book by September 15 for priority slot" offer respond to the scarcity. They book and pay the deposit immediately. Your calendar fills six weeks before the rush even begins.
Taking advance deposits without making clients uncomfortable
The most common worry: "Will asking for a deposit push clients away?"
For everyday appointments — a haircut on a Tuesday afternoon — deposits can feel unnecessary. For peak festive slots, clients expect them. A salon that does not ask for a deposit for a ₹3,000 festive appointment signals that they are either fully empty or not serious about confirmed bookings.
Frame it as a slot guarantee, not a payment demand. "Aapka slot confirm karne ke liye service ka 30% advance, kam se kam ₹200 — baaki appointment ke time." Most clients who genuinely intend to come will pay immediately. The ones who won't pay the deposit were not coming anyway.

WhatsApp as your festive booking channel
Festive bookings happen on WhatsApp more than anywhere else. A client sees your Instagram post about the Navratri package, DMs you, and you confirm over chat. The problem: that process requires you to be at your phone, reply quickly, confirm the slot manually, and then chase the deposit separately.
Automating this flow changes it entirely. The inquiry comes in, a reply goes out within seconds with the package details and a deposit link. The client pays via UPI (India's digital payment system). The money goes to your own account. UPI direct lands in seconds; with a payment provider it follows the provider's settlement schedule. WhatsApp sends them a confirmation with the appointment date. You see it in your daily brief.
You handled a festive booking without stopping what you were doing.
How Purpilot handles festive booking for you
This is exactly the workflow Purpilot runs. When a client contacts you about a festive package — on WhatsApp or through your website — the system replies automatically with your package details and a deposit link.
The deposit goes to your own account when the client pays. Purpilot never holds your money. A WhatsApp confirmation goes to the client automatically. The slot is locked.
You can also set up a festival campaign — a WhatsApp message to your existing clients about your Navratri packages — scheduled to go out at the right time. Clients who have been to your salon before are the easiest festive bookings you will ever get.
The six-week window: what to do right now
This week: decide your festive packages and set your prices. The deposit is 30% of the service price, ₹200 minimum. You don't need a perfect brochure. You need a WhatsApp message that says "Navratri packages available, advance booking open, slots limited."
Next two weeks: promote to your existing clients first. They already trust you. A WhatsApp message to 50 clients you already have will fill more slots than 500 Instagram views from strangers.
Weeks three and four: promote on Instagram. Your existing client slots should already be filling. Now you are attracting new clients for the remaining spots.
Week five onward: your calendar is full, your deposits are collected, and you are managing a confirmed schedule — not scrambling for last-minute bookings on October 10.
